Our History, Our Vision and Our Mission

Our Church History

The New Leaf Missionary Baptist Church was organized by a small group of believers, who were prayerful and had a vision.

With faith as their only asset, on the evening of August 24, 1970, they met in the home of Bro. Julius Grant, who is now deceased, and organized the New Leaf Missionary Baptist Church.

Present at this meeting were Deacon Richard Brim, Bro. Brown, Bro. and Sis. Thomas, Deacon and Sis. Julius Grant, and Rev. Johnnie Russell, Sr. Deacon Julius Grant made a generous donation in the amount of one thousand dollars which was used to open a bank account for the church.

Rev. Johnnie Russell, Sr. informed the men about the building which we have turned into our fellowship hall.

The first worship service was observed on November 1, 1970 at 11:00 a.m. and Church School at 9:45 a.m.

The nature and mission of the New Leaf Missionary Baptist Church is to seek and to save those who are lost by preaching and teaching the "Good News" of Jesus Christ. The foundation of our church was built on prayer, recognizing this as the primary ingredient for spiritual development.

On October 15, 1993, the Lord called our leader, the Rev. Johnnie Russell, Sr., from labor to reward. On January 16, 1994, the Lord gave us another leader in the person of Reverend Robert O. Moffett.

Since Pastor Moffett has been called to serve as our leader, the church has made rapid progress and grown tremendously. He started with 7 adults and 3 children, but since that time many souls have been added to our church roll and the Kingdom.

Come and join us and turn over a new leaf.
